If they are not internal, they are worth nothing with regard to room value. Sometimes, the game gets the idea they are internal without you doing this. You can make them part of the room by setting them to internal. The most important thing I learned is that doors are funny. I also allowed for smoothing but completely ignored engraving, which would likely greatly increase the value of natural stone rooms. All I tested was 3x3 rooms, to avoid going insane. I spent a few hours trying to figure things out. You can play the game without doing this, but I wanted to know, so I did science. Do I need an 11 x 11 room in solid magnetite for a noble? Can I stick a king in a 3x3 room? What is the easiest way to get a room up to "fine" for "personal palace" good thoughts? What I want to know is what to expect with regard to room values. It gives value thresholds but nothing about room size, and some details are missing. The wiki on room value is not very comprehensive.
